a cure for the Twitch

Sometimes movie effects can annoy me. My newest object of annoyance is Twitch from Video-copilot, Twitch is a plugin for a video editor called adobe after-effects. When I had a look at their tutorial it seemed pretty cool. To get a idea what Twitch exactly does I have a little movie for you. don't listen to the actual content, just watch the distortion and video effects it uses.

At first they look cool, but when you can spot them everywhere it becomes cheap.
It all started when I watched some of the new episodes of the car show Topgear. They started to throw in cheap effects like that all the time.
You think that the group editing the episodes should have more creativity and knowledge of editing to come up with something different?

Well you may think that was the end of Twitch but it just started.

The new Kanye west Clip... The twitching strikes again @ 0:47 or so...

KANYE WEST "Welcome To Heartbreak" Directed by Nabil from nabil elderkin on Vimeo.

Well if you think that's the only "cheap" effect that video clip uses you are wrong.
The Image bleeding effects isn't that state of the art. Released some weeks before the Kanye west video

Oke I'm not saying that chairlift was the first movie doing it.. Let's look to one of my personal favourites: the knife - heartbeats. (at 0:45 in)

Whooo more image bleeding.
So where is the creativity? Is all we hear and watch today only a meme? Do we ever get sick of stopmotion or are video effects tend to just as much to return as fashion?

Early Stopmotion.

"new" stopmotion

So what oldschool Video effect would you like to see return to the masses?
